Non-Profit Organization
The St. Louis African American History and Genealogy Society is designated by the Internal Revenue Service as a non-profit organization as described in section 501(c)(3) under the Internal Revenue Code.
 
Mission Statement

The St. Louis African American History and Genealogy Society’s (St. Louis AAHGS) mission is to preserve African-ancestral family history, genealogy, and cultural diversity by providing educational and research opportunities by offering community services, collecting, preserving, and publishing genealogical and historical records.

 
Our Goals
  • Identify, document, collect, and preserve all aspects of family histories and genealogy of, by, and about African Americans.

  • Create an environment that is regarded, regionally, as the focal point of expertise and resources that attracts researchers interested in African American family histories and genealogy.

  • Acknowledge and disseminate the rich cultural heritage of people of African descent to the broader community; to develop and merge multimedia and literature with expanding technologies as it relates to our underlining focus; on a regular basis, create relevant components designed to foster community involvement across all gender and age groups; To engage individuals and community institutions in projects and programs including, but not limited to, outreach, seminars, workshops, conferences, public forums and to encourage people to people relationships.
